Attendance, Completion, and Illness Policy
Purpose
Tandem Coaching Academy is the coach education division of Tandem Coaching Partners, LLC (“Tandem”). This policy explains what each program requires before Tandem issues a certificate, how attendance is counted, how to make up missed sessions, how long a learner has to finish, and what happens when illness or an emergency interrupts a program. It describes the completion rules in Tandem’s Additional Terms and Conditions in more detail.
The completion window in this policy applies to purchases made on or after October 3, 2026. Earlier purchases keep the terms shown or agreed when they were made.
What a Certificate Requires
Tandem issues a certificate when a learner has:
- met every completion requirement for the program, as published on the program page and in this policy at the time of purchase;
- paid the full price, including every installment; and
- no unresolved academic integrity matter.
The same conditions apply to completion letters and to the documents Tandem provides for an application to the International Coaching Federation (ICF).
Requirements by program
ICF requires that at least half of an accredited program’s hours be delivered live. Tandem applies that rule to each learner: at least half of the hours on a learner’s certificate must be hours the learner attended live.
| Program | Live hours needed for the certificate | Other requirements |
|---|---|---|
| ICF Level 1 program | At least half of certificate hours attended live | The observed coaching sessions, mentor coaching, and formative evaluation that ICF requires at Level 1, as listed on the program page |
| ICF Level 2 program | At least half of certificate hours attended live | The observed coaching sessions, mentor coaching, and formative evaluation that ICF requires at Level 2, as listed on the program page |
| Team coaching program | At least half of certificate hours attended live | The assignments and assessments listed on the program page |
| Mentor Coach Training | At least half of certificate hours attended live | Five observed mentor coaching sessions, three written feedback debriefs, the evaluation tool training checks, and both parts of the capstone |
| Coaching Supervision Mastery | At least half of certificate hours attended live, including Classes 6 and 10 | Six supervision hours, the learning journal, and the capstone |
| ICF Mentor Coaching packages | All 10 hours that ICF counts, over at least three months | The individual and group sessions in the package |
| Self-paced courses, including Continuing Coach Education courses | Not applicable | Every module assessment and the final quiz or task, at the passing standard stated in the course |
Where a program page lists a more specific requirement, the program page applies.
Attendance
- What counts. A learner attends a live session by joining on time through the session link, taking part in the activities, and staying to the end. Tandem’s attendance records are the record of live hours.
- Late arrival and early departure. Tandem counts the live time actually attended. Partial attendance may not count as a full session.
- Recordings. Where a session is recorded, watching the recording can help a learner review, but it does not count toward live hours.
- Assignments. Missing a class does not move an assignment deadline unless Tandem agrees in writing.
Making Up Missed Sessions
A learner can make up a missed live session by attending the same session with a later cohort of the same program, at no additional tuition, within the completion window.
- The learner must ask for a make-up seat and receive confirmation before attending. Seats are not reserved, and learners in their first cohort may receive priority.
- Make-ups depend on Tandem continuing to offer the program, as the Additional Terms and Conditions describe.
- A learner who expects to miss several weeks of a cohort should ask to move to a later cohort instead.
Completion Window
| Offering | Time to finish |
|---|---|
| Live programs and modules | 24 months from Program Start |
| ICF Mentor Coaching packages and other Scheduled Services | 12 months from purchase, as the Additional Terms and Conditions state |
| Self-paced courses | While the course remains available, as the Additional Terms and Conditions describe |
Program Start has the meaning given in the Additional Terms and Conditions. Make-up sessions, cohort moves, and paused periods all count within the window. A pause for non-payment does not extend it.
Not Finishing in Time
A learner who has not met every requirement by the end of the completion window has not completed the program. In that case:
- Tandem provides a progress record of the verified work, as described in the Records Retention Policy. It is not a certificate.
- To finish, the learner enrolls again at the price then in effect.
- Completed whole modules count toward the new enrollment if the program has not materially changed. Where modules are sold separately, the learner buys only the modules still needed.
- Tandem issues Continuing Coach Education credit only for a complete course, unless the course page offers partial credit.
Illness and Emergencies
- A missed session. Tell the instructor or hello@tandemcoach.co before the session if you can, and make it up as described above.
- Extended illness or emergency. A learner facing a serious illness, injury, family emergency, or similar hardship can ask hello@tandemcoach.co to pause. Tandem may ask for reasonable documentation. Tandem may extend the completion window once, by up to six months.
- Payments. Installment payments continue during a pause unless Tandem agrees in writing to change them.
- Refunds. Illness or an emergency does not create a refund right. Tandem may make a compassionate exception at its discretion; doing so once does not create a right to the same exception later.
- Disability. Needs related to a disability are handled as accommodations under Tandem’s Non-Discrimination and Inclusion Statement.
- Instructor illness. If an instructor is ill, Tandem may reschedule, substitute a qualified instructor, or provide a comparable way to complete, as the Additional Terms and Conditions describe.
Learner Responsibilities
- Check the program’s requirements before starting and track your own progress.
- Keep your own copies of mentor coaching forms, feedback, and certificates.
- Keep your payment method current so installments do not fail.
