Transfer of Credit Policy
Purpose
Tandem Coaching Academy is the coach education division of Tandem Coaching Partners, LLC (“Tandem”). This policy explains when coach education completed with another provider counts toward a Tandem program, how to apply, and how Tandem documents its own hours for learners who continue elsewhere.
Tandem decides transfer credit based on documented learning and the program’s current requirements, as the Additional Terms and Conditions state. This policy describes how Tandem makes that decision.
What Tandem Accepts
Entering the Level 2 program with Level 1 training
Tandem’s Level 2 program is for coaches who have already completed Level 1 training. Tandem accepts either:
- Tandem’s own Level 1 program; or
- at least 60 hours of Level 1 coach education from another provider whose program was accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) at Level 1 when the learner completed it, including earlier ICF accreditation types for the same level.
Tandem validates this training before enrollment.
Partial credit toward a Tandem program
Tandem may also grant partial credit for coach education from another ICF-accredited Level 1 or Level 2 program, on these conditions:
- Credit is granted only in whole Tandem modules, and only where the earlier training covers the same content and competencies as the module.
- Credit may not exceed half of the hours of the Tandem program.
- Mentor coaching, observed coaching, and assessments that are part of a Tandem program must be completed with Tandem.
What Tandem does not accept
- Continuing Coach Education hours, which ICF does not allow to count as transfer credit.
- Training from programs that were not ICF-accredited at the time.
- Coaching experience, workshops, or other learning without an ICF-accredited certificate of completion.
How to Apply
Apply before enrolling by emailing hello@tandemcoach.co with:
- the certificate of completion, showing the provider, program name, hours, and completion date;
- the program’s ICF accreditation level;
- for partial credit, a transcript or syllabus showing the hours and topics covered.
Tandem may confirm the provider’s accreditation with ICF and may contact the provider to verify the certificate. There is no fee to apply. Tandem aims to decide within 10 Business Days of receiving complete documents.
A Business Day is Monday through Friday, excluding United States federal holidays, as defined in the Additional Terms and Conditions.
Decisions and Tuition
- Tandem’s decision is final. A concern that Tandem did not follow this policy can be raised under the Complaint and Grievance Policy.
- Accepted credit means a learner needs fewer modules. Where modules are sold separately, the learner buys only the modules still needed. Credit does not reduce the price of a program sold as a single package unless Tandem agrees in writing before enrollment.
- Credit cannot be granted after enrollment for training the learner did not submit before enrolling.
- Tandem’s records show which hours were completed with Tandem and which were accepted as transfer credit.
Moving Between Tandem Programs
Hours completed in one Tandem program count toward another Tandem program that includes the same modules, as stated on that program’s page. For example, Tandem’s Level 1 program counts toward entry into its Level 2 program.
Credit Toward Other Providers
Learners who continue with another provider can request their certificate and a record of the hours, mentor coaching, and assessments they completed with Tandem, as described in Tandem’s Records Retention Policy. The receiving provider decides what it accepts, and ICF decides what counts toward a credential.
