3 Levels Of ICF Coaching Certification

ICF offers three primary levels of coaching certification, they are:

The ACC is the entry-level certification, ideal for those starting their coaching journey. To earn this certification, the coach must complete 60 hours of approved training and log 100 hours of coaching experience. This level focuses on building foundational coaching skills and understanding the ICF Core Competencies. It’s a great way to establish credibility and consolidate coaching skills.

As a leader, you might even consider this certification yourself, as coaching skills can help you to increase employee engagement and improve conflict resolution within the team.

The PCC is a mid-level certification for coaches with more experience and training. This certification requires 125 hours of coach-specific training and 500 hours of coaching experience. It emphasizes a deeper understanding of coaching practices and techniques. Hiring a leadership coach with the PCC credential means they can be both a coach and a mentor to you.

The MCC has the highest certification level and is designed for seasoned coaches who have mastered the art of coaching. To qualify, you must complete 200 hours of training and accumulate 2,500 hours of coaching experience. This level speaks of a profound grasp of the ICF Core Competencies and a high level of coaching proficiency.

If you are a seasoned leader-coach, you might want to hire an MCC-credentialed coach for more advanced guidance.
