Work Satisfaction Audit

Reflection & Journaling Tools

Measure how much of your work time is spent in enjoyment,
neutrality, or misery - then identify what drives each.

Where This Tool Helps

Most people have a sense that some parts of their work feel better than others. Fewer have a concrete picture of how time actually distributes across those states. The percentage sliders at the top of this tool force that picture into numbers - and numbers are harder to rationalize than impressions.

The two open fields that follow - what contributes to enjoyment, what contributes to misery - are where the real information lives. The answers often reveal that the same type of work, context, or relationship pattern appears in both directions. That tension is usually worth exploring in a coaching conversation.

The action planning section at the bottom connects the diagnosis to movement. The deadline fields are there to hold the commitment, not just name the intention.

How to Use This Audit

  1. Complete the percentage sliders first, before reading ahead. Assign a rough percentage of your current work time to each state: Enjoyment, In Between, and Misery. The three should add up to 100%.
  2. In the open fields, describe what specifically contributes to each end of the spectrum. Aim for concrete situations - not "meetings" but "status meetings with no decisions made."
  3. Review your answers and identify the two or three patterns that carry the most weight. These become your key observations.
  4. Write one action per key observation and assign a realistic deadline. Be specific: "I will block Tuesday mornings for deep work" rather than "I will manage my time better."
