Where This Tool Helps

Most people come to coaching with a presenting problem in one area - career, relationships, health. What the Wheel of Life reveals is that the areas are rarely isolated. A low Finance score that looks like a money problem often turns out to be a work-life balance issue or a confidence gap. The visual format makes that visible in a way that talking through each area separately does not.

The most telling moment with this tool is not which sections score lowest. It's the shape of the wheel. A jagged, uneven wheel - high in some areas, low in others - tells a different story than a uniformly low one. Both need attention, but the coaching conversations they open are completely different.

The steps below are designed to get you an honest picture, not a flattering one.

How to Use This Assessment

  1. Write the current month at the top before you begin. This tool is most useful when repeated over time - the date anchors it.
  2. For each of the eight areas, shade in from the center outward based on your current satisfaction level. 0 (center) means deeply dissatisfied; 4 (outer edge) means fully satisfied. Use your gut first reading, not the number you think you should give.
  3. Step back and look at the overall shape. Note which areas feel unexpectedly high or low once you see them visually.
  4. Identify the one area where a small improvement would have the most ripple effect across the others. That is usually the right place to start.
