Reflection & Journaling Tools
A structured writing exercise for identifying when you’re most fully engaged.
A memory of feeling fully engaged can provide one useful perspective on values, energy, and preferred conditions.
This exercise uses a personal essay format - not an academic one, but a structured reflection with a specific prompt: when have you felt most alive? The prompt asks for a memory rather than a general self-description; write only what feels useful to explore. People reach for concrete moments, specific details, the texture of an experience that mattered. Review the completed writing for details that may suggest values, energy sources, or preferred conditions, without treating the essay as an assessment.
The exercise works best when a client is disconnected from motivation or is describing their life primarily in terms of obligations. The writing may offer a different kind of detail than a questionnaire; neither format determines what matters.
