COACHING PRACTICE TOOLS
A customizable template for building multiple-choice
coaching questions with structured response options.
Open-ended questions produce open-ended responses. That is often exactly right. But there are contexts in coaching where bounding the response space is more useful - where asking a client to choose from defined options produces clarity that an open question would not.
Multiple-choice formats work well for: surfacing habitual patterns (which option does the client always pick?), distinguishing between values that all sound appealing in the abstract, calibrating confidence or readiness on a specific dimension, and building self-awareness by comparing responses over time.
This template provides the structure. You supply the questions and options that fit your client and the current work.
