Assessment & Discovery Tools

Identify your core strengths and map
how they serve your career.

About This Assessment

Most professionals can list their strengths when asked. Fewer have examined which ones actually drive results - and which ones they default to out of habit or comfort. There is a difference between a strength you use frequently and a strength that creates disproportionate value when deployed deliberately.

This assessment helps you make that distinction. You will identify which strengths are most central to how you operate, examine concrete moments where they produced results, audit which are tied to your current role versus which travel with you across contexts, and map where each transferable strength could create new value.

The goal is not a list you already know. It is a clearer picture of which capabilities are truly portable - and how to use them more intentionally.

How to Use This Assessment

  1. Section 1 - Strength Identification: Circle or check the strengths that reflect how you actually operate - not what sounds impressive. Add your own where the list falls short. Then identify your top three.
  2. Section 2 - Strength in Action: For each of your top three strengths, write a specific example. Name the situation, the impact, and how others recognized it. Concrete beats general here.
  3. Section 3 - Transferability Audit: Sort all your strengths into two columns - those tied to your current role and those that travel across industries and functions.
  4. Section 4 - Strategic Application: For each transferable strength, identify one new context where it could create value and one concrete first step to deploy it there.

Before Your Next Session

Bring your completed assessment to your next coaching session. These two questions are designed to open a deeper conversation about how your strengths are actually serving you.

Reflection Question 1: The Shadow Side

Every strength has a shadow - a way it can work against you when overused or applied in the wrong context. Looking at what you wrote in the "What it cost you" prompts, what pattern do you notice? What does that tell you about how you deploy this strength?

Reflection Question 2: Your Portable Identity

The transferability audit reveals something about your professional identity beyond your current title or industry. Based on what landed in the "Strengths That Travel" column, how would you describe what you actually do - separate from what your job description says you do?
