Impact and Effort
Rating Sheet

Planning & Organization Tools

Score your activities against impact and effort to reveal
which priorities deserve your focused attention.

Where This Tool Helps

Use this sheet to compare activities on two personal estimates: expected impact and required effort. The numbers are conversation aids, not objective measurements, and two people may rate the same activity differently.

Review the ratings together and note uncertainty. Use the visual Impact-Effort Matrix afterward when a quadrant view would make tradeoffs easier to discuss.

How to Use This Sheet

  1. List each activity in the Activity column. Be specific - "meetings" is too broad. "Weekly leadership team sync" is right.
  2. Score Impact from 0 to 10: how much does this activity drive a result you actually care about?
  3. Score Effort from 0 to 10: how much time and energy does this activity require relative to others on the list?
  4. Compare scores. High Impact + Low Effort = protect. High Impact + High Effort = plan carefully. Low Impact + High Effort = scrutinize.

Impact and Effort Rating Sheet

Score each activity: Impact 0-10 (how much does this drive a meaningful outcome?)  |  Effort 0-10 (how much time and energy does this require?)
Activity Impact (0-10) Effort (0-10)
