Three prompts that surface a client’s sources of agency, control, and confidence.
These three prompts target the same territory from slightly different angles: the conditions under which a client feels capable and effective. The distinction between "powerful," "in control," and "confident" matters - clients often experience these differently, and the gap between them is often worth exploring.
The prompts work well as a session opener when the work is about agency, transitions, or leadership identity. They can also be assigned as pre-session writing when a client is in a pattern of focusing primarily on what’s not working.
The answers are not a fixed inventory of strengths. They’re a situational read - what’s active for this person right now. Use them to understand context, not to build a static profile.
