Goal-Setting Across Life Domains

GOAL SETTING TOOLS

Answer five foundational questions that span financial, physical,
mental, emotional, and legacy dimensions.

Where This Tool Helps

Goal-setting conversations often stay in one lane - usually professional or financial. This worksheet forces a broader scan by asking five distinct questions across domains that interact with each other more than they appear to.

The question about legacy - "What do you want to be remembered for?" - is worth slowing down on. Most clients skip past it or write something generic. The answer, when it is honest, tends to reorganize the other four. A client who clarifies what they want to be remembered for often realizes their financial or physical goals are misaligned with that answer.

Fill each question separately rather than as a unified narrative. The friction between domains is informative.

How to Use This Worksheet

  1. Answer each of the five questions in the order they appear. Do not try to make the answers consistent with each other on the first pass.
  2. For financial: name a specific outcome, not a feeling. "Have six months of savings in reserve" is more useful than "feel financially secure."
  3. For physical and mental health: write what improvement looks like in behavioral terms - what you would be doing differently, not just how you would feel.
  4. For emotional improvement: think about the emotional patterns that cost you the most energy. What would it look like to respond differently?
  5. For legacy: answer this one last, after the others are complete. Ask yourself which of the four answers above aligns most clearly with it, and which might need to shift.
