Goal Planning

GOAL SETTING TOOLS

Break one goal into concrete steps, a clear strategy,
and a reward worth working toward.

Where This Tool Helps

Most goals stall not because of lack of desire but because they never get translated into a specific plan. This worksheet turns a single goal into a complete map: what you will do, why it matters enough to keep going, how you will approach it strategically, how you will track progress, and what you will give yourself when you follow through.

The pairing of action steps with motivation is particularly useful. Writing "why" alongside each step reinforces that tasks are not arbitrary - they connect back to something that matters. The reward field is not decorative; it is a commitment device that makes completion feel real before you start.

How to Use This Worksheet

  1. Write one goal in the "Goal" field. Be specific enough that you would know whether you have achieved it.
  2. List up to five action steps in order of sequence. Number them to reflect priority or chronology.
  3. For each action step, write what motivates you to take that step in the "Motivation" column.
  4. In the "Strategy" section, describe your overall approach - the how and the when, not just the what.
  5. Use the "Progress Tracker" to record milestones or percentage complete as you move forward.
  6. Write your reward in advance. Make it something you genuinely want.
