Emotional Intelligence
Assessment

Assessment & Discovery Tools

A self-rating inventory across five EQ domains to identify
strengths and priority areas for intentional development.

Why EQ Matters in Leadership

Emotional intelligence is not about being agreeable or emotionally expressive. It is about having the self-awareness to recognize what you are feeling, the regulation to choose how you respond, and the social acuity to read and navigate the people around you. These capacities show up directly in how you lead, communicate, and perform under pressure.

Cognitive ability and technical expertise get people into leadership roles. What determines whether they thrive there is largely emotional intelligence. EQ predicts effectiveness in conflict, in change management, in team building, and in stakeholder relationships - the exact domains where the work gets hard.

Self-Awareness

Recognizing your emotions as they occur, understanding your patterns, and seeing how your internal state affects your behavior and impact on others.

Self-Regulation

Managing disruptive emotions and impulses, responding thoughtfully under pressure, and maintaining adaptability when conditions change.

Motivation

Operating from intrinsic drivers rather than external rewards, sustaining effort through setbacks, and maintaining optimism about long-term goals.

Empathy & Social Skills

Reading others accurately, building genuine rapport, navigating organizational dynamics, and communicating in ways that land as intended.

How to Use This Assessment

  1. Rate each statement honestly. Use the 1-5 scale: 1 = Rarely true, 2 = Sometimes true, 3 = Often true, 4 = Usually true, 5 = Almost always true. Rate what is actually true, not what you aspire to.
  2. Total each domain. Add your ratings for the statements in each section and write the total in the score row.
  3. Identify patterns. Note which domains score highest and which score lowest. Both are informative.
  4. Use the summary section to capture your two strongest areas and one or two priority development areas.
