ADHD Executive Function Tools
A seven-day room-rotation schedule that keeps your space consistently maintained without requiring you to decide where to start.
The all-or-nothing cleaning pattern - ignoring the house until it feels unmanageable, then spending an entire weekend trying to fix it - is exhausting and unsustainable. It also tends to repeat. The problem is not willpower; it is the structure (or absence of one).
A rotation schedule addresses this by distributing the work across seven days, each with a clear room focus. Monday is the kitchen. Tuesday is bathrooms. You know what is expected of that day before you open your eyes. There is no assessment, no prioritization, no negotiating with yourself about where to start.
What makes this approach work for ADHD is the bounded scope. "Clean the bathroom" is not an open-ended obligation - it is a specific set of tasks that take about fifteen minutes. Knowing the ceiling makes it easier to start, and starting is almost always the hardest part.
