Map Roles, Not Just Names

A support network can include people who encourage, challenge, advise, sponsor, teach, collaborate, or offer practical help. One person may hold several roles, and a role may be empty by choice or circumstance.

This map is a conversation aid, not a score of relationship quality. It does not require five people, assume that a larger network is better, or determine who should be in your life or work.

How to Use This Map

  1. Choose your scope. Map a work, leadership, transition, or personal-support context.
  2. Add up to five people. Use names, initials, roles, or leave a card blank for privacy.
  3. Name what each relationship currently provides. Describe observed support rather than assigning a fixed label to a person.
  4. Notice optional gaps. A blank role is a question, not evidence of isolation or deficiency.
  5. Choose one next conversation only if useful. Respect consent, boundaries, power, and confidentiality.

This optional coaching reflection does not evaluate relationship quality, diagnose isolation, or prescribe who belongs in a network. Use aliases for privacy, skip any prompt, and use qualified support when a situation is unsafe or outside coaching.
