Coaching Practice Tools
A clear, professional agreement that establishes the scope,
expectations, and boundaries of the coaching relationship
from the start.
A signed agreement does more than protect both parties legally. It creates shared understanding. Clients who sign a coaching agreement arrive at the first session knowing what to expect, what is confidential, and what their obligations are. That clarity frees up cognitive space for the actual work.
The areas coaches most often gloss over are confidentiality and termination. Both matter more than they appear to. Clients who know that what they share stays in the room are more candid. Coaches who have a clear termination clause avoid the awkward ambiguity of a relationship that has stopped working but no one has named.
Customize the bracketed fields with your specific terms before use. Sign it, have the client sign it, and keep a copy on file.
This agreement outlines the goals and outcomes that the client wishes to achieve through coaching. The coach and client will work together to develop strategies to support progress toward those outcomes.
The coach agrees to keep all information shared by the client during coaching sessions strictly confidential, except where disclosure is required by law.
Either party may end this agreement with written notice. Outstanding fees for completed or late-cancelled sessions remain payable.
