COACHING PRACTICE TOOLS

Connect your 12-month vision to concrete milestones,
KPIs, and the specific actions that close the gap.

Why Vision Needs Numbers

Vision exercises produce the most value when they are specific and the least value when they are comfortable. The version of a coaching practice you write in the abstract - "thriving," "impactful," "financially stable" - tells you nothing you did not already know. The version that names a revenue number, a client count, and a role description you are not entirely sure you can hit is the version worth working toward.

The pattern that undermines most annual planning is the gap between the vision section and the action section. Coaches write a compelling vision, generate a list of quarterly milestones, and then return to doing what they were doing before the planning session. The KPIs and action items in this worksheet exist to close that gap - to translate the directional language of vision into measurements that will tell you, month by month, whether you are on track.

This worksheet is most useful when you review it monthly, not annually. Write the vision once, check the KPIs and action items regularly, and update the quarterly milestones as circumstances change.

How to Use This Worksheet

  1. Complete Section 1 (1-year vision) before looking at the quarterly sections. Write the specific version - the one with actual numbers - not the aspirational one.
  2. In Section 2, write milestones that are measurable, not descriptive. "Be more visible" is not a milestone. "Publish 12 LinkedIn articles and book three speaking engagements" is.
  3. Section 3 (KPIs) requires a current baseline next to each goal. Without a baseline, the goal is untethered.
  4. Section 4 (actions) should produce three concrete tasks you can begin this week, not a backlog of good ideas.
