Strengths Evidence Reflection

Assessment & Discovery Tools

Identify your top strengths, recognize where they show up,
and discover where you are underusing them.

Using Evidence to Explore Strengths

Use this reflection to list possible strengths, record examples, and note where you may want to use one more often. The result is a personal snapshot, not a measure of capability or potential.

A strength label is a hypothesis until it is supported by your own example. Do not infer under-reporting, distortion, identity, or impact from how quickly a word comes to mind.

A second common gap: strengths that exist outside work entirely. Physical environments, creative work, caregiving - if those show up here, bring them. They often hold insight about what is missing at the leadership level.

The prompts below are sequenced to help you see beyond what you already know about yourself - starting with evidence, then moving to patterns.

How to Use This Inventory

  1. List five to seven strengths. These can come from anywhere - professional feedback, personal life, things others have thanked you for. Do not limit to job-related capabilities.
  2. For each strength, note the evidence. A specific situation where this showed up. Avoid generalities ("I'm a good communicator") and name the instance ("the board presentation in March").
  3. Rate current use. On a scale of 1-10, how much is this strength active in your current role or life? If you use a rating, define the numbers yourself and do not treat a low number as proof that a strength is underused.
  4. Choose any strength you may want to explore. That one is worth focusing on in your next session.
