ADHD Executive Function Tools
A combined list for purchases and tasks with budget tracking
to support intentional spending and follow-through.
Impulse purchasing and incomplete task lists share a common root in ADHD: the mental list. Items that live only in working memory either get forgotten entirely or get acted on immediately - without checking whether they fit the budget, whether the timing is right, or whether you already own one. Writing things down before you buy them creates a pause that working memory cannot.
The budget column is not about restriction. It is about making the decision in advance, when you are not standing in a store or clicking a link. Pre-decided spending targets are easier to hold than in-the-moment willpower. If you wrote "$40" next to an item last Tuesday, you have something concrete to compare against the $80 option in front of you now.
The task section captures the to-dos that surface while you are shopping or running errands - the things you suddenly remember while already out. Write them here rather than trying to hold them mentally or switching tasks immediately.
